In 1985, Yamaha developed the TT-F1 spec FZR750 (OW74) based on the commercially available FZ750 with the aim of conquering the Suzuka Race. The OW74, which competed in the Suzuka Race in the 1985 season wearing Tech 21 livery, was entrusted to France's Sonauto Yamaha, who repainted it in Gauloises livery and entered the Bol d'Or 24 Hours race held at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France.
